Mitchell Quain has over 30 years on Wall Street focused on the industrial sector as a research analyst, investment banker, private equity investor and as a member of numerous public and private company boards. Mr. Quain also currently serves as a Senior Advisor at the Carlyle Group, a private equity firm. Previously, he held senior management positions at One Equity Partners, the private investment arm of JP Morgan, and several investment banking firms including Wertheim, Furman Selz, ING Barings and ABN Amro. Mr. Quain began his career as a Research analyst at Schroeder Wertheim and Company in 1975 and ultimately joined the Operating Committee as a Partner and Vice Chairman-Investment Banking. At Wertheim, he founded Wall Street’s first focused Industrial Manufacturing Group, “In Rust We Trust”, an outgrowth of the firm’s extensive equity research and banking activities for middle market companies in this sector. Mr. Quain appeared annually for 15 years on the Institutional Investor All Star research team and was ranked number one numerous times before “retiring” from direct research coverage in 1995.
Mr. Quain is the Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Overseers of the Engineering School of the University of Pennsylvania, has served on the Board of Trustees for the University of Pennsylvania, is a Trustee of Curry College, and Chairs the Finance Committee for the School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Astro-Med, Hardinge, RBC Bearings, and Magnetek, where he also serves as Chairman. Previously he served on the Boards of Titan International, DeCrane Aerospace, Heico, Handy & Harman, Allied Products Corp., Strategic Distribution and Register.com, Inc.
